With only a few more days left to burn I figured I had time for maybe one or two more highlights. So I reopened the Lonely Planet and checked out what they recommended. One of the remaining suggestions was scuba diving at the Semporna Archipelago. I hold an Advanced Open Water licence, but it had been about 4 years since my last dive in Africa...and this dive hadn't exactly gone to plan (I surfaced coughing up blood and which led to pneumonia: ...

We left the Borneo jungle to go scuba diving off some islands off the coast of Malaysia. We decided to book a scuba tour to go to Sipadan island which is considered one of the top diving destinations in the world. It was discovered by Jaques Cousteau and ever since people cross the globe to get a chance to see one of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world. So we stuck with what we knew, find a cafe with wifi and take it from there. Easier said than done. We wondered round the small town, quickly realising this wasn't going to be as easy as we thought. The women in town weren't too friendly and it started to feel a bit like we weren't ...

Bad ears and Eagle Rays

After our incredible day at Sipadan we was due to dive Kapalai island on our third day, Kapalai isn't so much of a island more of a sand bank in the middle of the sea with a resort on stilts built on it. The diving here is mostly muck diving which is mainly sand and searching for the small weird little critters that hide in it. We all entered the water and as we descended I made it to only 2 metres before a sharp pain in my left ear hit me, I ...
