... thatched umbrellas to protect us from hot sun and enjoyed the sun's reflection on a calm Aegean Sea gently pushing small waves onto the black sand while we sipped a cool drink. After an hour or so chill time at the beach, our guide took us to the Santo Winery where we sampled some interesting, different and quite nice local wines, made from grapes unique to Santorini. The winery was perched at one of the high points along the crater wall providing excellent photo ops. Santorini is ...

During this time, I discovered that our new friends from Britain never take photographs during their travels. After a recovery day in Split, Jess (Fisher) and I flew to Athens, a day before Gee and Laura, because we'd been unable to get on the same flight. We made it into our hostel near the Acropolis late, showered and crashed for the day. In the morning, we had brekkie at the hostel, then left to be tourists for the day. Jess was keen to see the Acropolis, and I had no idea what i wanted, so I followed her. First stop was the Acropolis Museum, which was actually fairly boring, but did give ...
