... without a lifejacket. The river was pleasant enough and we got to see a number of 'Mexican' themed displays on the route as well as the natural (and not natural) rock formations.

By this point we were already at noon, as part of the ticket price we had an included buffet lunch and fearing a mass landslide of American tourists we took an early lunch and besides this gave us the best chance at fresh food across the board! Now, usually I am very good at ...

We cruise around the island, stop into ...

He started explaining the cenotes and how they were the only freshwater source in Mexico. They have 25,000 cenotes in just the Yucatán itself and about 7000 are connected by underwater rivers.

We arrived at Aventuras Mayas and were told that we would be swimming in the cenote cavern first. We got off the ...

... tour from this funny Mexican man in his little autocart. It was sooo hot and he was going pretty fast in his car! We followed from shaded area to shaded area. Chichen Itza was one of the largest cities built by the Mayan people around 600AD but its architectural style was influenced by Mexican style (example were snake heads, eagles..). The main feature of Chichen Itza is El Castillo (aka temple of Kukulkan) which was named ...
