... of thousands of years old coins. Investment banker is my guess. Iraklion is a dirty busy little port city. But don't let her looks fool you. There's lots to do, see and appreciate. It's been around since the Neolithic age, some 10,000 years. A layer cake of time and surprise. We enjoy a stone-oven baked pizza watching the traffic and people. Motor bikes blur by, seldom a helmet but often a passenger on board. Buses jammed with people. Lives ...

While enjoying breakfast on our deck, lounging in the hot tub as we soaked in the views of the caldera, and making final plans for Paris, oh and planning our retirement home (YES! so ready to spend the rest of our lives on the water and blow off this thing they call work!), we finally made up our minds to spend our last hours in heaven on a boat. At 12:15 our cab arrived and whisked us off to the back side of the island where we rented a 4m 30hp boat and headed off ...

Switch from Turkish Lira, back to Euro's again. Before we left Mamaris last night went to the duty free in the excellent Port Service Center (Port of Istanbul could learn a lot from Mamaris). Duty Free had an excellent selection of European wines, at very low prices in €. Low on ...

Breakfast was provided by the Marriott on the rooftop, which had an incredible view. We sipped mimosas, toasting the beginning of our time together, and enjoyed a fabulous breakfast. A driver picked us up and drove us 1.5 hours away to the cruise port. Seeing the enormity of the cruise ships as you walk up takes your breath away. ...

Greece....who knew there was such a market for fur

A travel blog entry by jimbeaux on Sep 29, 2015

... 90% humidity, and the fur stores are a plenty…and EMPTY! The jewelry stores are inviting, but we resist. We went into one store – a woodcrafter. The craftsman was in the back working on yet another beautiful piece. He took simple olive wood and turned them into works of art. We found a bowl we liked, not expensive, but thought of lugging it; then we thought of cutting back – so we said no. He did ...
