... and definitely makes you rethink camping positions as we move further north! We also got the chance to go in to the onsite wildlife hospital to get a sneak peek of the work that goes on in there. There was a Koala who had just been admitted with the smallest IV in its arm which was really cute! It took quite a while to walk around the huge enclosure but it was definitely worth it - it did however leave us all a little hungry & the talk of a McDonald's had everyone decided. ...

... and there are plenty of people around. Arrive at Flametree to find we are in a queue to book in. Wendy, one of the owners/managers comes out of the office and asks if we have a booking, thank goodness yes is the answer and she doesn't even book us in just gets us to follow her to the site they have allocated and tells us to pay later. We set up on a lovely spot under tropical palms with ...

    Day 19 - Airlie Beach

A travel blog entry by lorraineburgess on Jun 19, 2015

They had reef pools running around the building with stingrays, shark, coral and various smaller fish. Hamilton was a lot busier so hopped on the green bus which dropped us of at the to to wait for the orange or purple bus. 25 minutes later, we hopped on and went all the way round on it. ...

We were out late last night, so in some ways It was good that the bus wasn't until 5pm. But it also meant we had another day and nothing to do! We had some breakfast with Sarah from our Whitsundays trip and spent most of the day by the lagoon sleeping. I had a good old Dominos pizza in the afternoon, which I still can't get over how cheap it is. That sorted me out for the rest of the day. We took our bus to ...

... half an hour of 3m waves they changed route to go the long way around Whitsunday. Once we got on the beach it was bliss. The sand was pure white and to soft and fine and against the breathtaking turquoise sea it was unbelievable. The only problem with such fine sand meant that with every gust of wind a significant amount of sand worked its way everywhere. After an equally choppy journey back we are setting off in the camper once more to see how far we can get before ...
