A lazy Sunday morning, Happy Easter all :-) Got a lunch today with a photo shoot before at 12:15 so not doing much, room service for breaky then onto the Prom deck for a read and start the blog for the day. It's rocking a little bit as the Captains upped the speed to just over 21 knots to make up the lost time. No news yet about the guy that was ill! The lunch went well with a couple of glasses of red to wash it down :-) ...
... rumour mill is in overdrive. Dinner as we set sail from Santa Cruz and back on the way to Lisbon, the Captain reckons we can make up the time and still get in for 9am on Monday. To the show in Curzon and a guy, Bruce Morrison celebrating 25 years of Les Mis, he narrated some of the history along with singing some of the songs, all in all a very good show :-) Another hour forward today then we'll be back on UK ...
Well it's certainly cooler today, it's very breezy as well. The temperature is just right but the wind is a nuisance. So today we are on a trip, Highlights of Mindelo. Mindelo is the capital of St Vincent, Cape Verde Islands. Sad to say that there aren't any highlights. Although it lacked highlights the whole place is ok, Key West has a Cuban feel about it and this place us a bit like that, it has this Cuban feel but a lot poorer than Key West. A bit like stepping back in time. ...
Day 7at sea, weather us changing as we head north, it's quite windy today and although the sun is still strong the temperature is much cooler than of late, in the high 70s as opposed to high 80s and far less humid. I'm not going to add any photos today just to see if that's why the blog isn't connecting to Facebook. Today the ships photographers decided to show up on deck to take photos of the shuffle teams. Now how comes they show up today, we have had 6 sea days with fairly calm days ...
Our port stop in Mindelo, Ilha de Sao
Vicente was originally scheduled for April 18 but was moved to an
overnight stay on April 15, 2014. Since we had more time than was
necessary in Cape Verde, we decided to hire a taxi on the first day,
and acquaint ourselves with the volcanic nature of the island.
The roads were newly paved and in good
condition. One thing noticeable right away was the arid landscape
and absence of trees.
