A few Days at Cape Verde
We arrived at Mindelo on the island of Sao Vicente in the the Cape Verde Islands in the early hours of November 29. Our first impression was a surprise at how many yachts were here, both on anchor and in a well established marina. We were expecting a third world country but found a well established town with a mixture of modern shops and traditional markets.

Schitterend groen eiland
... weer terug naar ons resort. Morgenavond nog even het dorp in, want er zijn hier dorpsfeesten ivm een processie komende donderdag en dan is het woensdag tijd voor de (lange) terugtocht. Eerst weer de oversteek met de boot. Halve dag wachten in Mindelo, met het propellervliegtuig naar Sal, en dan om 1.00 de nachtvlucht terug naar huis.

Mindelo, culturele hoofdstad
... al worden zakjes uitgedeeld en vele kwamen gevuld van boord. Ons resort in Porto Novo is schitterend met uitzicht op zwembad, zwart strand en zee. In de lobby ontmoeten we de Belg en als gids laat hij ons morgen het eiland zien, oa de Groque fabriek (locale sterke drank van suikerriet), de koffieplantage en de krater van St. Paul vulkaan.
Later meer... nu gaan we heerlijk eten.

Departure at first light
... mean feat here due to limited availability of pretty much everything. We have cleaned, scrubbed, repaired and shopped ourselves dry and are now looking forward to getting the sails out and enjoying the sail. Hopefully our next blog will see us clear of the staggering sights of the Cape Verde landscape.
