LIFE AS A MONK!

... walking meditation, breakfast, and of course MORE 108's. Haha. 108 more full bows. I swear we were the Monks entertainment for the weak. Lets watch these foreigners sweat to death and laugh at them. This time each time we bowed down we had to put a beed on a necklace. It was motivation to do all 108 bows.

Overall the whole Temple Stay trip was an unbelievable experience. Even during the bows I loved every second of it. It's something I wish everyone could experience. You can ...

Busy, Busy, Busy. An Update.

... in the pond a few feet away. You know boys--first of all, I think they have an internal homing device that detects poor, defenseless toads. AND THEN, they have to look, poke, throw things at it. Sigh....I scared a few delinquent passerby, by shooing them along, or threatening them with scary hand gestures implying throat slitting. :) I had fun. The toad got a cameo in my painting too...maybe you can see ...

... for 14 at a local b-b-q restaurant, and paid around $100. This meal included about five servings of meat each, plenty of side dishes, and drinks. For the times that you want a hearty steak meal, or a taste from home, there are a few western restaurants that are much pricier, such as TGIFridays, and Outback Steakhouse. I don't know much about seafood, since I'm not that interested, but if you like it, Korea's the place for you! You can find almost ...

Pusan International Film Fest

So we went to the PIFF at the beginning of October. Saw the worst anime movie ever created at an outdoor theater that had the best view availible to the masses. A skyline nose diving into a harbor splashing an array or lights over our bored and tortured eyes. Thankfully, the projector self combusted and we had a chance to ...

Why I'm beginning to fall in love with Koreans

... of peaches is thick in the air. I stop and buy a few, and the lady adds in a few plumbs for good measure. THEN she does something you NEVER see in the U.S. She looks up at me with a big 'ol smile on her face, and makes me lick her ice cream cone.... After a split second of me having my awkward American phobia of doing such a thing, I figure, what the hell?? When in Korea, right?? To the ...

... city. This was the only city in Korea that was never taken by the North Korean Communists during the Korean War, so there's a bit of history here too. It is a large port, and home to the biggest Fish Market in Korea, which was quite close to my hotel, and well worth a look round. Several stalls sold Scabbard Fish, and there's the Madeira connection again - the only two places in the world where Scabbard Fish are found are Madeira and the ...

My school...

... I smile or wave, they all giggle and run away. A few have asked me for after-school lessons already, so that's pretty cool. I guess I am an expert at what I do....speak English that is... :)

Since I had very little preparation, as was totally just thrown in, these next two days they're allowing me to just work on lesson plans. On Thursday, the board is coming in to observe my lessons...AWESOME... Well, I guess I better get to work.

Really South Korea

... main stands and had a walk around there before being turfed out by a security guard. It was 6pm by the time we got back to the appartments so we took a subway down to Haeundai beach just to see what it was like (looked like a beach) and then went back into the city centre and downtown where we met up with our new temporary flatmates, James from Colorado, Kathy from New York and Ben from Australia. We had a few drinks in a bar called Girl ...

Back to Busan

... weight in our backpacks). Seeing as we were flying on a prop plane, boarding didn't begin until ten minutes before the plane took off. As we waited in line for security, I looked in the orange plastic bag that Phil had asked me to carry. In it sat all of the razors we had brought on the trip (bics, gilettes, a trimmer, and a professional grade hair cutter)!! I looked at him in disbelief. You expect me to bring a bright orange bag full of ...
