Great Place to spend a weekend (Oct 17-19 -2003)
My wife and I decided to spend our 7th Anniversary down at the Blue Moon, based on several reviews written here, The room wasn't huge, but it was quiet, with a very comfortable bed, Frank and Michael at the front desk were more than helpful with party and food advice. The AC was a little noisy when it kicked off, as well as the pressure in the shower could use a little boost. (water savers are evil) I will definitely recommend this to anyone who is only interested in spending less than $150.00 a night for a place to stay. It was only 1 block to Ocean Drive, and everything was very clean, and felt like home.
Once in a Blue Moon!!
I loved this hotel! It was close to everything, very quiet, the staff was incredible from Carlos the night manager who went out of his way to find me the perfect room, to Frankie the concierge who tried relentlessly to get me a jet ski rental. The room was turned down every night and I was only woken by housekeeping once at 10am. All the amenities were new, and the room was well decorated including a funky painting / clock and a comfortable bed.
The restaurant was open with porch front dining, but I had not eaten there, although I believe they mainly served Italian.
Bear in mind that most of the rooms do not have much of a view, but ironically, these are the rooms that are the most quiet. Also, most of the Lafayette (Art Deco) rooms have showers, and most of the Les Suites (Mediteranean) rooms have baths.
The pool is small, as most have stated, basically an oversized hot tub, however, I had it to myself every day I was there, and it was a good alternative to the seaweed laden beach.
Word of warning however: I managed to get a rate of $75 a night, but upon my arrival they required $50 a night to be held on a credit card for the mini bar. I'm not sure if this applies if you pay in advance (i.e. Expedia or Travelocity). Parking is also $18 a night via the valet, but you can find cheaper parking one block up and they will grant you 24 hr access if you show your room card.
All in all I had a great stay at the Blue Moon and would definitely recommend it to anyone seeking a great boutique hotel in South Beach without the high price.
We stayed at Blue Moon in July 2003, for 5 nights. They had a summer special, and we ended up paying 89$/night, plus tax. For us, the hotel was very well located, close enough to the beach (1.5 blocks), yet in a quiet location. We chose a room towards the back of the hotel, to have as much quiet as possible, and we were not disappointed. The room itself was small for american hotel standards, but probably average for South Beach. It had a big 27in TV, hair dryer, iron, coffee maker (one free coffee packet per day), safe (free, but you have to ask for lock and key at reception), and minibar. We did not use anything from the minibar, since all drinks were 3-5 times the price at the corner store (which itself was 2-3 times more expensive than the average supermarket :). However, we used the small refrigerator to cool our own drinks.Things we liked in particular: the artwork was exquisite; many watercolors by various artists throughout the hotel, and in the room (including one above the toilet).Things we did not like: the turndown service was spotty; there were no robes, as advertised on the website: ...
Great little place!
We chose to stay here based on the good reviews on trip advisor and were not disappointed. It is small but perfectly formed! The location is great, just one block from the beach and seafront. The staff were really helpful and gave good recommendations for restaurants. We liked it so much we went back after our trip down the keys. Some of the rooms are small but are really well designed and the spa pool is perfect for beating the heat. The patio for breakfast is really nice and a good deal for a hotel. Highly recommended.
Charming Boutique Hotel
As two teachers on spring break in South Beach, "more bang for our buck" is our moto. We got just that when we checked into the Blue Moon Hotel on Collins Ave. The location was perfect. It was located near all the great restaurants and a few minutes stroll to the beach. The room was spacious and clean enough and it was decorated stylishly. The view could have been better (our's overlooked the roof top the building next door.) The only problem we had was when the guest next door kept complaining that she could hear everything through our adjoining wall no matter how quiet we were. The staff was polite, but we were unable to check in on time because our room wasn't ready. Over all, it was a nice experience and we'd go back again.
Blue Moon Hotel is a really nice place to stay. The room was spotless, the bed was clean and turned down, the bathroom is beautifully decorated and clean as well. Hotel staff is more then helpful. Becareful about ordering drinks from the bar. I ordered 1 pina colada and it was $16. The pool is very small, but the beach is a block away. Otherwise everything was great definitely would stay there again.
Stylish small hotel - above South beach average
Stayed at the Blue Moon Hotel in early April. Clean, quiet, comfortable, friendly service, stylish decor, great South Beach feel and steps from everything. The room has really nice, new looking deco furniture, a CD player, mini-bar, robes, Gilcrest & Soames soaps etc. Valet parking is extra. No elevator. Pool is tiny but sparkling & has jacuzzi jets and a glass block waterfall. Small dining patio decorated with blue glass vases and fresh flowers. Free newspaper. No view from our discounted room - look for internet specials as low as $120. I liked that it didn't have the grungy tiles, sandy rugs and hard beds like some hotels in this area. Romantic. I would stay here again.
A great experience
After one night in the noisy and dirty Edison Hotel on Ocean Drive we cancelled our reservation for the following nights and moved to the Blue Moon Hotel on Collins Avenue. The staff was very polite and the room was very nice. Everything was clean and modern - at a rate that was comparable to the Edison`s we got much more value. I would highly recommend this hotel with a great location, good rates and a nice athmosphere!
Wonderful Romantic Hotel
This was one of the best hotels I ever stayed in! The staff was so accomodating and couldn't seem to do enough for you. The rooms were small but very clean and cozy. I only had to walk a block to the beach and was minutes away from all the night life. Thanks Blue Moon for being a cut ABOVE the rest!
Blue Moon is great spot!
We just returned from a trip to South Beach and the Keys. The Blue Moon is ideally located (one block off Ocean drive); staff were very helful and very eager to assist; forego the valet parking ($18) unless it is a Friday/Sat nite and you can't find parking in the garage less than a block north up the street on the opposite side of the hotel (its a municipal garage charging $10 with in/out privileges if you show hotel card); we found hotel quite quiet - we had a room on 3rd floor at back facing the small pool/spa. Restaurant only serves breakfast which we did not try as we usually only have Starbucks lattes. Check your bill to ensure that you are not charged for valet parking. Great rates available on the internet. One of the best accommodation deals of out trip.

... fella), you should come and visit us! Then James said, noooo you should go to the house in Barbados and we'll meet you there! Well. It would have been rude not to right? What a marvelous opportunity. Then then it transpires that I'm not the only one with travel plans and another lady from school, Helen, is also going to be in some far flung places this year and just so happened to be working for the past 5 months on Montserrat which is another Caribbean island. So I was very excited ...
... that great quality either, but the theme park like any other in the world has you over a barrel! After lunch as the weather is not improving we decide to head to one of the indoor rides - the closest is Spider-Man! It's a long wait of 40 mins, but luckily undercover as now the rain is torrential, the ride is great fun, it's a combination of a moving, motion-based ride vehicle, with 3-D film and live action, it includes Spider-Man jumping on the front of the vehicle and a ...

The food was ok not over the top and not terrible I had a flat iron steak and Val had the beef tenderloin. After dinner we explored the shops on board and purchased the important fridge magnet. It was a scorching start to our last day in Miami with the thermometer touching 91 degrees. A brief swim in Miami Beach then it was time to check out of our hotel, have lunch, then get a taxi to Miami Port. The Majesty of the Seas was docked waiting for our arrival. I tipped the luggage guy $3 just to make sure our luggage arrived safely in our stateroom. Check in was very slow, seemed our friendly reservation clerk was struggling just ...
