... to the monastery of Thari to see its striking 11th century murals, then noodled back to Lindos through pine woods that have recovered nicely from a major fire in 1986.
Today we had a long lunch at our favorite Lindos restaurant, Mavrikos, with Mary and her German friend Uwe. Walked up to the Acropolis, but it had close early with winter hours. Back to the Museum to visit, putter, and pack.
Tomorrow we're heading home via Athens and London. ...

Mary, Shelley & Dan arrived in Lindos Friday afternoon and settled into Mary's beautiful home, aka The Museum. After a slow morning regrouping from our road trip, we headed to the main beach, which is paved with sun beds all summer but comparatively deserted now. Settling into Rosanna's Italian beach taverna, we ordered, had a swim, ate a delicious lunch of seafood risotto and fresh fish, and swam again. The aquamarine sea was clear and warm. Just too dolce for words. ...

When I finally came to the agent I wondered what would be expected. After a quick scan and the wonderful sounding thump of the country entry stamp I was on my way.

Again we boarded a bus for the short ride ...

We clambered in their 7 seater and they drove up into the depths of Rhodes and up Gulf montain to a place called Filerimoss (This is how it sounds no idea how it's spelt) where there is a memorial from their war with Portugal and now stands as a kind of hilltop nature spot with amazing views.
The family knew I dabbled in an instrument or two and when we got back there was instruments everywhere in their house. ...

... I came but 2/3 days here would be enough for anyone and with a good full day you could see pretty much everything.

I head back to Rhodes town tomorrow and I'm staying with a couple from the couch surfing site I joined some time back. Basically people who travel themselves and are willing to give a bed to others for a night or ...
