... day in bed and resting instead of on our township tour.  After surviving 5 weeks in India unscathed I had finally succumbed to a stomach bug in SA.  We were able to postpone our township tour but Cat spent a boring 24 hours playing nursemaid as I rested up and tried to get rid of the bug.  The hostel was really quiet and there was not a lot to do really which was a shame.  We managed a walk to the local supermarket on Sunday afternoon but mainly just chilled ...

This serves the purpose of preventing robberies because crime rates are very high here unfortunately. Sometimes I think it is a bit of paranoia.

It's understandable why J-Bay is know as the surfers paradise. Our hostel - Cristal Cove - located just minutes from super tubes was full with surfers from all over the world including the States, Spain and Peru. It's funny, the group of about 10 people I hungout with most, all spoke Spanish to each other! Great practise :) Seeing them all out there made the hunger in me to learn the beautiful art of catching a wave badly!!! I decided to hold out till a few ...

... streets walking distance to where I was staying in the center of town. The one with the sushi place was more upscale and white. The other was more downmarket and primarily black. After dinner I went to bars in both and didn't feel unsafe or unwelcome. Maybe I should have (these three people at the whiter bar suggested I not go to the other bar street because "they" might take advantage of me), but I didn't, so there.

Next it was back on the bus to ...
