4 Nations Rugby League - Kangaroos vs England

... DW Stadium (JJB renamed - long story - you'll have to read the book I bought John on the life of Dave Whelan - he was a local who established JJB stadium for use by both league and football and has now set up his own company DW in competition with JJB in the sportsgoods business) and to watch the Kangaroos play in person. I've only ever watched them on TV. As John said, there was no real booming atmosphere, but the crowd was ...

Hockey and Netball match in Liverpool

... hard to keep possession. At half time we were winning 11 - 4, although it felt a lot closer than the score showed. The third quarter was tough and sacred heart came out firing. Our team motto 'hard work pays off' helped to lift the team and we played a superb last quarter, winning 12 - 34. Special thanks to Maree and Jess Denison for filling in for our team. They both lifted to the standard and slotted beautifully into the team.

(Liverpool – Manchester)

... in a traditionally working class city, a club that has suffered the tragedies of deaths of its supporters through stadium overcrowding, an icon saddled with a bandwagon full of fans the world over who’ve never set foot inside their home ground – let alone the city. When Liverpool won the 1984 European Cup an easily influenced six year old boy living far, far away who had just started playing the sport jumped on that crowded ...
