      Belize Zoo

On our way from Coruzal to San Ignacio we dropped in at Belize Zoo, possibly the cutest zoo going around. It opened in 1983 after a number of native animals were 'left over' from a nature documentary and now continues to care for these animals and other native animals that have been mistreated or abandoned. As the only zoo in Belize it plays an important role in educating ...

... hostel for jungle rum and pool. My game is real off tonight and get smashed by Leesh and Purto numerous times before finding the touch and giving them both a lesson. Leesh gives Purto a good run and he's not impressed before beating her later. Certainly would not have enjoyed losing twice to Leesh. After a few games we give up and head back to the room for wifi to catch Zac's first ride of the night. Purto and I intend on ...

... made all the difference. As we headed to lighthouse reef the weather was a little rough but the 46 foot boat handled it easily, also just getting in and out of the water on a well appointed boat makes so much difference. The crew were amazingly professional and very friendly, I dived most of the time with Ilya, Walter and Edgar, three local lads that were both laid back and professional. A hard balance to maintain but they did it with grace and ...

... I learned that the $1 bus stops in front of the hotel. No sign or markings just stand by the gate and wait. It should come every 30-45min; there's no schedule. Also since most of the locals so far speak Kriol (which sounds like broken french) my limited spanish has not come in hand yet. On my way back home, I ran into a few stray dogs. No bites, no worries. Back in my warm home with my spicy water, safe and sound.

... at least we knew where to get it, but we’d missed that one. Then we met a lovely gentleman from Victoria who let us use his phone and the call dropped, then I got hung up on and then it went through. But we FINALLY got there and when I asked the front desk staff at the hotel for some more blankets they were very grumpy about getting them and I was all “What?! You’ve got 4, count’em, 4! heaters going back there and ...
