... until 11:15; he arrived tousled, bleary-eyed (hungover(?) in true anecdotal Dylan Thomas tradition) and full of revelations about Dylan. Undoubtedly, he was a Dylan enthusiast, knew heaps about the eccentric poet and enthralled us all, especially the visiting Americans who longed to be immersed in Dylan stuff. John said, "Sod the weather!" and enlightened us with his knowledge and love of Dylan. He did not disappoint, and despite the wind ...

      What a shot! Damp squibs!

... Words fail me here to describe the action-packed fun. H and S explored depressing Swansea, though bags of shopping provided an alternative view. We met up at American Golf - where else?! - and it was home for a senior nap before the highlight of the day, the Pendine Beach fireworks. ... shops and mercifully closed "Kiss me quick" hat shops. The town wasn't quite deserted, but many premises were seasonally closed. Why is it feeding people is becoming the only way to earn a living? We looked about with declining interest as it became clear that this was not a prime Welsh attraction in November under glowering skies. Stroll, lunch in a pub that doubled as a café - very clever marketing - and then back to the car before ...

A fun weekend in New Quay to end the season. Halloween events on Friday, fireworks on the pier and the urban downhill event. The Main Street is closed for the brave cyclists to career from a field above the car park, weaving their way down narrow alleys, down steps and over ramps and all this in under 2 minutes! For once the dolphins were taking second place and the fishermen went on with their daily tasks oblivious to the goings on on ...
