Entering the freezer

... arrived on Saturday night in Sylvan Lake, where two of the students Jenny and Nathan live. We stayed with their parents and in Jenny and Nathans house. Sunday morning, Jenny, her sister-in-law Crista and her mum-in-law made us all waffles... with strawberries, whipped cream, maple syrup, bacon etc etc etc. I could get used to this! A couple of us then went to church with Nathans parents and his brother Ben. Yet again, the preacher was talking about how ...

... Australia and ended up settling around Batchelor) and got to meet lots of family we had never met before and learning more about the family history. One of the highlights was the centenary of the Sargent School (now a community hall). David's great grandparents had donated some of their land for a school in the district, which had then operated as a school until about 1950's or 1960's before being used as a community ...

I love libraries and gardens!

In our quest for the library, we stumbled upon the most beautiful city gardens! What a find in a roundabout way! Since Senica has a broken toe we cannot walk all over the town. I love how we found the highlights just a few blocks from the bus station!

Winter's Fist

Well so much for the wonderful winter's day. Yesterday morning I awoke to temperatures hovering around -28C with snow falling and a nasty wind. The snow continued almost unabated all day. Last night the temperature dropped to -32C. This morning the snow is gone, the sky is blue and the sun is shining ...

Back to Beaumont, again!

... had taken it upon themselves to empty the bags and place everything carefully. They even washed some stuff for us. (Poor them!) We spent about an hour, touching every single item that had been in our bags deciding what was necessary for the next five weeks and what could be left behind. Gosh, only five weeks left! My brother, Darren, surprised us with a quick visit before we had to head back down to Calgary.

The Countdown Has Ended!

... boarding Singapore Air for 19 and a half hours. This lands us in Singapore at 11:30am on October 1. We've got books, cards, food and smiles with us, so hopefully the flight won't seem quite so long. We are going to miss our families and friends very very much!!! We will definitely be keeping in touch as often as possible. Stay tuned for our next update....from SINGAPORE!!!! Dana and Trevor

Lake Louise

Wednesday we headed to Lake Louise. LL was nice, but, COLD! We had a pretty good time, again, but, it wasn't as super great as we thought it would be. We had a better time later in the day, when we went and hit the terrain park. LL has the biggest terrain park in the world, so is claimed. I believe it! They had two huge table tops in a row, right off the top. Then ...
