My travel agent booked me a double room when the hotel had run out of single rooms and I wasn't disappointed. The room was huge, with two double beds and a couch. The food at the hotel was quite good despite not being terribly exotic. (They did have special nights, like Asian and Italian, which was excellent.) The staff were all wonderful as well. All around, an excellent stay.

In December, I decided that it was time for a holiday. It was cold, wet and dark in the UK and I needed some sun. I'd gone to my travel agent with no idea where I wanted to go and she suggested Tenerife. I was skeptical, as I'd heard from a friend of mine that Tenerife was nothing but gross nightclubs. I decided to take a gamble and, in my opinion …

Having feed our minds and bodies it was time to explore before the heat of the day hit the low 30' degree. Hopping onto a local bus we headed north for about an hour; the coastline is fascinating following the ups and downs of the steep foothills, crossing huge deep dry gullies carved over centuries by torrential waters. The journey tends to zigzag to ...

... as curious about us as we are of them because they would roll on their side and look me right in the eye! They were delightful! We found a couple of pods of them and followed them for quite some time. I must say that I loved every second of it. They are mesmerizing. And frankly it was very moving. I found myself crying at one point. No idea why. Was just moved. Not sure what this says about me. But in other news I also cried at the Opera ...

... back and forth to the bar from the pool. Aside from that though it was a gorgeous spot and had some great restaurants along the boardwalk and beaches to check out. After that we drove up the coast to Playa de San Juan and then Puerto Santiago for a great late lunch. On the way home we stopped at Los Cristianos for a look around but it seemed to just be the same as Playa de las Americas but circa 1976. On Monday we booked ourselves into the cheapest accommodation we could find ...

To pass the time we once again plotted to defeat and take over the world - this time completing it on expert level. Is it worrying that we are so good at such ...
