The weekend revellers are absent in the morning and we enjoy the beautiful outdoor pool set-up in peace... no pumping music and only a few other punters. Hilli reads, dozes in the sun, crochets and swims. Guy combines reading, scribbling and the occasional dip with visits to an equally quiet spa area. Lovely. The hotel runs a bus-shuttle service to a beach it advertizes as its own... the 'lighthouse beach'. Guy decides to investigate on ...

... a bit like we'd entered an abandoned town ravaged by war decades before), the landscape suddenly became green. Fields upon fields of sunflowers, grapes and sweetcorn. Open plains became winding forest roads and then, having only seen it through the fog on our boat tour up the Bosphorus, there it was: the Black Sea in all of its sparkling glory.

We arrived at Varna bus station (I say bus station, it was more like a ...

... each weekend 3-4hrs to play here because there are no golf courses in Rumania.

The course was tough and in the wind very tricky. I really liked the course and ended up with a good score, much better then yesterday, a course I didn't like... By the end we were windswept and retreated to the nice clubhouse to have a beer and lunch with our playing partners. They were very keen golfers and played every weekend in ...
