... As everyone knows, we live in the Tampa area; therefore we are accustomed to look in a westerly direction over water to see the sunset and hurricanes approaching. Feeling a little tender today we took advantage of our hotels 12 noon checkout.

Today we are heading south to the gulf coast of Texas. We are going to visit Leslie's childhood friend Christine and her husband Mark who live in Corpus Christi. We packed up in New Orleans in the pouring rain and headed west with the windshield wipers on full speed. After taking the long way, avoiding the I-10, we reached the very attractive city of Galveston right on the Gulf of Mexico. Obviously its low season because it was very quiet everywhere with very little traffic and deserted beaches.
