    This morning visited the Schonbrunn Palace and gardens. Arrived early as big Holiday crowd expected. This was built as the Summer Palace for Hapsburg Empress Maria and was only used for four months of the year. The Palace was originally a two hour carriage ride from the Winter Palace in downtown Vienna but now the city has grown to absorb the grounds of the 1,500 room Summer Palace.     Thursday morning and the shortest journey of the trip, 90 minutes from Brno (Czech Republic) to Bratislava (Slovakia). These two countries split in 1992 from the old Czechoslovakia and are both in the European Community doing fine with differences, e.g. Slovakia has the Euro and a smoking ban, whilst the Czechs have kept the Koruna and smoke in pubs and restaurants.
