... the place in the decorations. After our tour, we decided to walk/hike up to the bridge where we could see a lot of people taking photos. It was well worth it as the view is most likely the same one that we saw in all the photos-the leaves were just starting to change color and in a couple more weeks would have been spectacular. They were still great colors now, though. After our 7 Euro parking fee!, we saw a night of canned food ...
Füssen, Bavaria, Germany armajor7... rural feel. I would not want to travel in their steps and I admire their sense of adventure!
So we arrived in Fuessen, but the GPS hadn't been programmed with the address...looong story...don't ask... And so with a bit of stress and strain, we eventually found our hotel. We then turned around and made our way back to the castles and managed to get booked in to both Hochschwangau and Neuschwanstein. We were all a bit grumpy and ...
This was a lovely little place we stopped at on the bus tour to the castles. Unfortunately, being Sunday, most everything was shut (except for the souvenir shops that is). They have a woodcarving school there that I plan to stop at for a weeklong course on the next trip. But of course it was shut that ...
Oberammergau, Bavaria, Germany danandroz... bus. This is not what you want to hear when you were meant to have a 3hr train journey & can only imagine how long it would take by bus. With my limited German I knew the train wasn't coming but didn't know why. It wasn't until we were told to get off the bus an hour or so later at another train station on a different network that we found out the reason. Apparently someone had decided to lay down on the train tracks on the route we were due to take ...
Fussen, Bavaria, Germany jacinta81... time in Mannheim to grab a fish sandwich from Nordsee - lettuce, tomato, remoulade, on a sesame bun - yummy! As I munched on my sandwich, I noticed that the German lady who tried to help me with my seat was joined by her friend. Wow! Later on, another beautiful woman sat down, and then another ... is this train car filled with models going to a model convention? Why can't all train rides be like this? Where do I get tickets to the aforementioned ...
Fussen, Germany pwongWe wake up early enjoy breakfast together, I pack then we all go our separate ways. Issy catches her train, and for me, its time to see the castle and then leave for my next destination. Im out of the house by 10am and fully packed, I head into town and go to the castle. I decide to purchase a funicular ticket that takes me to the top of the mountain, stopping at the Castle on the way. At the castle I see that a student ticket is half ...
Fussen, Germany penny.hope... Salzburg, which I think I will like very much. I had a friend there a few days ago and she raved about the place. I will try to not get my hopes up too high, since I don't want to be disappointed though. Munich has been a full on assault on the senses these past four days. It's like I forgot the past year how intense traveling can be. It a good way though. Especially in new places, you just take in so much. The subtle differences that make a place unique, the huge ...
Füssen, Germany steph_444Another work conference for my parents brought us to Oberammergau for a week. We stayed in the cutest little wooden cottage - like the whole thing ceiling to floor and including flowering window boxes was made out of wood! Totally picturesque like you've read about in Brothers Grimm fairy tales. Aromatic town bakery. Absolutely enchanting.

Today we drove up into the mountains to see the fairy tale castle, Neuschwanstein. This is another of Ludwig's castles, this one unfinished, and served as the inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle. It ...
... napkins.
We toured Linderhof, one of crazy King Ludwig's castles. It's the only one that was finished before he died. Even though it wasn't sunny, Rick made some gorgeous pictures.
