So we were off to the Gili Isles, we arrived about 11am and as per usual because of the heat and our majors ice bags we stopped at the first cheap place and settled in and headed straight on out. First impressions were WOW! What a beautiful island and there was a real chilled, hippy and party vibe about the place. We went and got some coffee and purchased some DVD's off some dude with a massive bag full of them. We then walked the main strip checking out all the shops ...

All of the bars, restaurants and markets are along this side as well as the harbour (not really a harbour just a bit where all the boats park in the beach). There are no cars on the island, people mainly get around on bikes and if you want you can ...

... Having earlier seen locals leave on their bikes and not pay a cent we knew this was a case of scan the tourist so we dug our heels in saying he should have told us there was a charge when we arrived and there were clearly no signs of a charge. After going round in circles we put the bike into first gear and left our tail to continue arguing with himself in a cloud of dust ready to prowl on his next victims! Asia...still keeping us ...

... discuss options, and I tell him that when I was his age I didn't make much money at all - I had to work my way through college. I encourage him to get educated and it will pay off in the long term. It's an investment. It will be tough. He will be poor like I was. It will be worth it. He didn't seem convinced.

We part ways at the airport and board our flight for Jakarta.
