... visited the town museum and the bog people, which were actually quite fascinating. Apparently in the 1950’s a peat farmer had dug up some human remains that had been well preserved in the bog type conditions. Finally a new country to add to the list. It has been a while since I went somewhere new. Of course, I don't have time to spend extra days here on this short trip between London trips. And work is going to keep me busy. Hopefully I will be able to do a little sightseeing in the evenings. Stay tuned.

9/5-11/5 We started our Denmark encounter with a small town called Ribe. This is one of the oldest town is Denmark and has a thriving Viking history. It is one of those old European towns with lots of small cobble stone streets and half wood houses, so very nice. We went to the tourist office and ask about a map and what we should do for the day. It ended up that we were there for the tulip festival, not much going on in the way of tulips, but lots of music ...

... a side tent were common. Some tents had decking, kitchen furniture and chest freezers! We had gorgeous sun for the first few days, then intermittent rain. This has allowed us to get a bit of a tan without getting overly burnt. Only Tor was brave enough to try the outdoor swimming pool. The mini-golf course turned out to be rather challenging and good fun. We decided on a limit of 20 shots per hole!

... with more tea towels, we continued onto Harwich. Arriving an hour before departure we are car number 10 in the queue. Very smooth setup - electronic booking the way it should be done. At the start of the queue, show passports, receive cabin door passes and a nice sticker for the car to indicate we have upgraded. This turns out to be very helpful as we are allowed to bypass the next queue and are waved straight through. Upgrading ...

Arrived safe and sound in Esjberg. Ferry trip went without a hitch. Nona didn't even puke! Driving on the right hand side of the road is a cinch as long as everybody stays out of my way. There are windfarms as far as the eye can see. We are staying in Ribe just south of the ferry terminal. We're practicing the local lingo before heading to the pub for some Danish beer!

... so that's where we headed next! A long drive across many bridges, only to get to the end and find we have to pay a 200 Danish Kroner toll (around 20 pounds!)That stung a little bit! Wallets a bit lighter we trundled up the motorway to meet up with some friends... Muss and Cathrine, they day was still young so we headed in to town to have a nosey round... while roaming the streets Rod noticed a couple of short dudes...and recognized ...

Just the fact of advancing is great and motivating for backpackers and hitch hikers and there at the service station even if it was somewhat empty we were smily. Finally its an old danish couple who approach us and where going nearby Esbjerg, we talked with them and they finally took us over and we talked some more with these elderly people in the car who are going every year to back pack themself in Thailand and do as well ...

Start 15/3-06: Afgang Rygsækkene er pakket, flybilleterne sitrer efter at blive kærligt behandlet af Check-in damen i billund lufthavn. Nu skal vi sgu snart afsted.
