... to Alagadi beach to see the excavation of a turtle nest. A short 15 min drive and we arrived at the beach area. There is a turtle project run here in N Cyprus and Uni students monitor the turtles coming ashore, tagging nest areas, dates etc so they know when they are about to hatch. Many beaches are protected out here which means no one allowedon them after about 8:30pm in the summer months. Turtles lay eggs in June and July and they hatch in Aug and Sept. Weds 1st July - Up nice and early this morning and after a cup of tea, light breakfast for Sarah we set off at 7am for Larnaca Airport and Sarahs flight back to the UK for the hen party! Flights are with Aegean Air via Athens to Heathrow.....all this on the day Greece has not paid back its debt! Hope the airport in Athens stays open.....:). Crossed the border at the Metehan crossing in Lefkosia and then motorway to Larnaca arriving shortly after 9:30am. Sarah dropped ...

Fri 19th Jun - Rob and Sarah were up before 6am to catch the cool morning air before the sun gets to hot. Today it is expected to get to around 35C. Nice relaxing start to the day sat on the back patio just listening to the birds and looking at the clear blue sky. Breakfast of scrambled egg on toast with copious cups of tea was followed by a crossword to get the brain in gear! Eventually by 10am we were ready for a short drive up to the Buffavento peak and off east into the hills. ...

We stopped for lunch under shelter just as the storm clouds gathered overhead. The wind picked up and the sky grew very dark and threatening, but the rain never hit us. About the time we finished eating, the clouds rolled away to reveal a beautiful blue sky. We walked back to the city wall and climbed up to the top and enjoyed a great view.
