So a mere two days after arriving back in England I found myself back at Gatwick Airport where I appear to have spent the majority of my summer this year. This time I was accompanied by my family instead of waving goodbye to them at baggage control and we were on our way to Cyprus for three weeks. This is the fourth time we've been to Cyprus so we know it pretty well.

... and there are not a ton of hotels that cater towards younger people near the beach. The beach is not that nice near Ayia Napa, but I hear Nissa Beach just down the road is pretty nice. The only real tourist site in Ayia Napa is the monastery, which is actually quite an impressive site. The monastery looks like it's made out of gold although I'm sure it is not. It is decorated with all kind of ornaments and even has paintings all over too.

Larnaca was my first stop in Cyprus. Emirates has a route that goes to Larnaca, then onto Malta and I'm doing both legs on this trip. The Malta leg will be in 5 days. I used a rental car company here and it was a complete rip off, so I did not get off on a good foot in Cyprus. The car was supposed to be $27 for 5 days and then an airport fee and gas fee. We stopped for lunch under shelter just as the storm clouds gathered overhead. The wind picked up and the sky grew very dark and threatening, but the rain never hit us. About the time we finished eating, the clouds rolled away to reveal a beautiful blue sky. We walked back to the city wall and climbed up to the top and enjoyed a great view.
