In Maastricht, Carnaval is a huge celebration. Originally, it began as a Catholic celebration right before Lent begins. Now, it's just one big, three-day-long party. People here begin preparing for the event in November, even though Carnaval is the first weekend in March. Suffice it to say, it's a big deal here in Maastricht and I'm so excited to be able to participate. We even get an entire week off of school for it.

We were crossing the street on the way to Edd's and a car almost hit us, so one of the Canadians tapped on the car as it sped past.
