Once it hit 12 I needed to get home as I didn't have much battery left on my phone and didn't know where the flat was without a map yet. So walking it home the battery got to 5% and I was still 30 mins away. During the semester the class had introductions to the music of Smetana, Dvorak and Janacek. The original plan was to take the students to see Rusalka (The Little Mermaid), what I knew would be a good introduction to Czech opera. ... compound is the wonderful Cathedral of St Vitus, St Wenceslas and St Adalbert. All of the two or three churches we have looked inside today are incredibly ornate, with gorgeous statues and painted ceilings, and loads of gilt everywhere. We saw the changing of the guard, and spent some time just gazing out over the city.
We had lunch in Mala Strana (Small Side of Town) in a small Czech tavern. Charlie had an ENORMOUS pork 'knee' - a bit like a lamb shank, but three times the ...

... who had stayed with us in England the year before. He had travelled Europe, overwintered in Andorra and finally settled in Prague with his brother Alecs. We wanted to catch up.

Coming out of the Metro station, another deluge of Biblical proportions was underway. We were early, so we just waited for the rain to stop. We stood and waited, and waited. After and hour ...
