Day 1: June 21, 2014

My mum was about to arrive in Ho Chi Minh City the next day we had to hurry to be able to pick her up at the airport. Since we were still stuck in Phnom Penh we first had to catch a bus operating between Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh City. Btw. Ho Chi Minh City used to be the capital of South Vietnam, at those times the …

So after the most terrifying taxi ride of my life on the way to Delhi airport, from a bloke at the end of his shift who kept sniffing something to keep himself awake, I negotiated Malaysia Airlines via Kuala Lumpur to land in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday morning.
Ho Chi is a vibrant metropolis of colour, action, motor bikes and noise. It's a …

As it was my last night here, I wanted to visit the tallest building in Ho Chi Minh City, the Bitexco Financial Tower. The skydeck on floor 49 offers a fabulous view of the city, though of course looks especially impressive at night.

At 262 meters high, the tower was designed by New York architect Carlos Zapata Studio and carried forward …

After a very long evening out celebrating New Year's Eve, I was feeling a bit fragile this morning even from drinking only the local beer. My guest house is within walking distance of a number of bars and is always busy in the evenings so I decided to stay around here last night, was all within walking or staggering distance and plenty of people to …

If the tenacious spirit of the Vietnamese can be symbolised by a place, then that place is Cu Chi.

It's incredible how resourceful and inventive they were in taking on the invading Americans. I read the book about the American "tunnel rats" ordeals taking on the Vietcong guerrillas in these restrictive spaces so made of point of arrnaging …

I am very impressed with how nice everyone was at the hotel. It was easy to find and in a nice area, and the room was perfect! Good breakfast in the morning too. Definitely recommend!

    Hôtel excellent et calme

    from

    from

    from

Acceso a internet gratuito.

    from

    Super ruhige Unterkunft

    from

We had a very enjoyable stay at Bich Duyen Hotel. The staff and owners were very helpful and friendly which made us feel at home.
