This is a great place to stay if you are looking for apartment accommodation in Auckland. It is very central at the top of Queen Street i.e is right in the city centre. Very well run with good daily housekeeping service and really comfie beds.

... to find Joy's piano. Alas no luck on that front, but discovered that Friday night is a busy one. Some of the big boats were lit up, one was partying, we both had a good gawp!

Further on there were all sorts of food outlets, a photographic studio in an old VW camper van, a barber and all sorts of market stalls. We stopped and searched for a scarf for Susie, to celebrate her new job. Got a lovely one, but we bought it in the dark!!!

... on them. In the evening, we ate at a place where you picked out your own piece of meat and they grilled it for you. Surprisingly good! It is VERY very expensive here. We had to buy insect repellent and suntan lotion...a tiny container of repellant was $25! And brand name suntan lotion averaged $45!!! A soda is$5 no matter where you go. No shopping happening here! Auckland is a young city....very urban and casual in its sensibilities. You rarely see someone in a suit or dressed up. ...
