... travelling all over Europe and beyond (Morocco) and even to Brownhills, near our home! This location is quite rural and remote being in a small village up a valley. With no shop or bar/restaurants in walking distance much has been set up so that you needn't leave the site if you don't want to as the suppliers come to you, a factor particularly favoured by those with motorhomes. Take Monday morning, for instance. We could hear music in the distance which slowly but ...

... overcast and cool but come midday blue sky and sunshine returned. The change in the climate now we are further north and in a hilly region is noticeable but the temperatures more manageable, so much so that David put the wheels on his bike and explored some of the pretty countryside round and about. Steve and Jim than gave in to sitting in the shade and waiting for our tour bus to ...

We have a beautiful breakfast in the lounge at Carmo's. We can't eat outside as it is too cold and later it starts raining. What a contrast from yesterday. We head off for Viseu. Its motorway the whole way a lot of it high up in mountains with spectacular bridges and viaducts. There are hardly any cars on it and even less lorries. We cross over the Douro River but ...

Day 14. Agueda to Albergaria. 10.5 miles (and back again)

We saw this section of the Camino twice today, once walking and the other from a car. It was a bit of a surreal experience for me. We began our walk in Agueda and walked 10.5 miles to Albergaria. Our travel company has set up hotels for us along the way and they did not have a place in Albergaria, so they hired a taxi to pick us up and transport us back to Agueda so ...
