Back home...
After travelling through about 3 Spanish towns, nothing compared to the home we had in Benicassim - such a lovely seaside town! It was quite a bit different without all the loud Brit's stirring up the sea and locals. We stayed at Hotel Orange, the third hotel we stayed at in Benicassim. Actually all three were on the same street this one was probably the best.
Farewell to Benicassim
Last few days here we really can't believe the week has gone so quickly.
We have enjoyed exploring the area; our mission here is to find a place to return for the whole winter next year.
Benicassim is high on our list although the nights are cold. the days have had their fair share of sun we would like another 5 degrees warmer.
The advantage in this place is ...
Leaving soon...
Today we started packing our bags. It's time to head for home...the one we have in Sarasota!
It has been a wonderful two months here, we've experienced a part of Spain that very few Americans see. At first I felt very frustrated by the my language difficulties. Most Spaniards we met don't speak very much English and my Spanish is ...
And now we have an N.I.E.
... e.g. including the NIE Number on the "tarjeta de residencia" - residence card). And so....since we are negotiating to buy some property here it made sense to take care of this technicality before we returned to the U.S. next week.
As we soon learned, the process is simple and complicated at the same time! We needed to arrive at the government offices very early, before 8 a.m. and queue with dozens of others ...
On our way to VALENCIA
... I had a lesson in how to raise the thing from the deck (usually I am in the cockpit managing the lines etc). A cruising chute is a large colourful lightweight sail that makes the most of light winds that are blowing onto the stern area.
A fabulous sail all the way to our anchorage in Albir close to Altea from where I am updating this blogsite. We flew past Benidorm on the way which was a line of very tall skyscraper buildings (see photos), ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Servigroup Orange Hotel Benidorm
Hotel Orange
On arrival at the hotel orange i found the staff very friendly and helpful.
The rooms were immaculate, the maid service was wonderful. The restaurant was superbly clean and the food was good. The pool area was also extremely clean and well maintained. The staff were excellent and very friendly especially to the kids, considering the hotel has a reputation for the older guests they catered well for children although i would have prefered a more varied menu for children.
The hotel was situated in the centre of the entertainment, shops and the beach. The entertainment was ok but could have been better.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Benidorm, and i would most definately go for a return visit.
No complaints....only the pensioners
just returned from a week in the orange,wow..what a location.right in the action.food was fine, hotel just been refurbished n everythings new in rooms and public areas.only drawback was it was full of the elderly who go to bed at 10pm and get up at 7am.make any noise after 10 at night and boy were they banging on the walls.didnt bother us,we were just going out n coming in between these times, there were a few ruffled feathers from other guests who wanted to sit on there balconies though with a few beers.by the time we were leaving there was a younger crowd around..i couldnt find any fault with the place, really is worth the extra to stay here.even with the pensioners..bless em.
Great time
very nice hotel just refurbished, food was very good but a bit repetitive.more suitable for older people, even though it is amongst all the bars and clubs

A great hotel in every way
My partner & I have just returned from our fifth visit to the Orange,we love the place, & will be going back again.
Terrified of heights
The Orange Hotel is a great place to stay in Benidorm. The food was great, the staff friendly and it is in a good location. The only thing I didn't like about staying there was that we were put on the top floor, I am terrifed of heights, I couldn't sleep too well because I knew I was so high up and I did not go on the balcony or I'm sure I would have passed out. We asked the tour operator for a room on a low floor, obviously, asking for this doesn't mean you will get it and you dont know until you get there if you have or not.
Just wish we had been put on a low floor. I would have enjoyed my stay at the Orange a lot more.
Fab Hotel
Travelled, First Choice 29-July-2003 Arrived in the middle of the heat wave. The hotel is fully air conditioned. Excellent. The chef and food are international standard. 4 minutes walk to the beach. The hotel entertainment stops at midnight but life then starts outside the hotel doors. Cabaret bars, discos, late night bars. Everything a tourist could want and I am 70. One gripe, the hotel D.J. should get some English and American tapes. Staff were very helpful. Saw some wheelchairs.so the hotel caters for all groups, young old or infirm. Will definitely be back.
