Giacomo's Milano

A travel blog entry by aurisch

... the Castello Sforzesco, we grabbed a gelato and strolled over in the glorious midday sun. Giacomo explained about how Leonardo had designed the walls of the city with outer brick layers for strength and inner rubble for flexibility. He has explained back at the Duomo that until it was built most of the city was made from brick because there are no rock areas to quary around Milan. ... car drivers to drive. Luckily he drove well as once we left the autostrada, it was very, very windy to get to our hotel. Also Wendy is probably almost cured of her fear of tunnels as we lost count of how many we went through in the almost 90 minutes it took to get to Monterosso. ... moment. I had already bought the train tickets to Milan, but there was no hostel booked or any other transportation plans. I ended up staying up all night, booking hostels and train tickets while I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.

Saturday morning, I was packed and ready to go to Italy. I hadn't slept in 29 hours and I was anxiously waiting for my boss to get home so she could pay me for the week. My boss wasn't answering my phone calls ...
