Varenna and other towns

... Nice town but not as good as the others. I've got about a million photos of the day. Unfortunately it's quite hazy so they won't show how beautiful this region is. Finally I go back to Varenna. This (for me) is definitely the best town. It's smaller and I love it. My BnB is in the square but the top floor balcony has beautiful views over the lake. I'm tired so have an early night. Just snack on ...

Extracting Essentials (or not) Easily

A travel blog entry by handyeh on Apr 10, 2015

... OK, I say, adding in a resigned way that I have two more. (I had one removed in NZ some years ago.)

She says she will give me an injection, and just before she puts it in, asks if I have any allergies. I reply in the negative and away she goes.

And, after the wait for the local to numb my mouth, she removes the tooth. In fact, the only dramatic thing was the dentist’s chairside assistant getting a sore head because she banged it on the X-Ray ...

Rome to Varenna (via Milan)

It's so much more satisfying going by train than flying. It's not a cheap way to travel though. A Eurail pass would be the way to go if you're moving around a lot. The trains in Italy have been pretty good actually. I'm a little surprised. Although they're not suitcase friendly. They're not flat ...

We returned to the same lovely terrace for lunch, and then and all too quickly, before we knew it, it was time to head for the airport and our Ryan Air flight to Bratislava (then bus to Vienna, for our last Pearl Jam concert).

I think part of the appeal and joy of our time here was reliving memories on behalf of mum, and finding all those places that gave her so much joy. I think mum also put it well in saying that whilst Bergamo is quite touristy, it ...

4 days in Milan, Italy

A travel blog entry by eczyl on Jun 14, 2012

Wasn't a city originally on my list to visit. But I went all because of MADONNA. She's bloody amazing! Over 50 years old and still rocking the world with her awesome performances and showmanship. I will so watch her again! While waiting for the concert to start, went shopping like supposed to in Milan! Second day in the city, went to do almost 2 weeks of soiled laundry. Enjoyed a slice of Italian pizza while waiting, having a taste of authentic Italian food. Spent the rest of ...
