The Uffizi and beyond

A travel blog entry by ruthperelstein

Tuesday we visit the Uffizi Gallery. This is another place where you have to have a reservation. It does make it less stressful and you do beat the lines, which are long and full of grumpy tourist.

1920s, along with the rest of the province, the city was subjected to an intensive Italianization programme. The aim was to outnumber the local German-speaking population. During World War ...

Siena - more than cheap pizza/pasta nights!

A travel blog entry by astephen

Made famous by the biannual Palio horse race (and brought onto our radar by the Sienna’s pizza and pasta restaurant back home), Siena was a real delight.

Set in the rolling Tuscan countryside and beautifully preserved and restored, we could have easily spent more than mere two hours we had here, just wandering the streets.

Piazza del Campo’s curved shell shaped core sets it apart from any other town square ...
