... after mile of netting which hides a variety of fruits and vegetables; this coupled with an industrial backdrop makes for a rather uninspiring journey. We arrive at La Manga at around 3.30pm, pitch tent and go and say hi to Annabelle´s parents, whose caravan is a 2min walk away. Bill cracks open locally produced 15.5% rioja from the bodega (at Euro 1.60 per litre..) and commence a night of catching up, fun and games. The " highlight " of our ...
La Manga del Mar Menor, Murcia, Spain and Canary Islands lymandannabelle... of Biscay which can be very stormy, fingers crossed it will be a fine crossing. We land at 8.00 am Friday morning and then we drive across Spain to the Costa Calida where we plan to spend a few weeks in a small Spanish village called Roldan, then we move on to a town called Lo Pagan,
Well would you believe it? I've been working for the last 2 days. A friend of Dave's who I met a couple of weeks ago needed a Brickie to build a couple of pillars. So, I dusted off the old trowel. It's been a long time but you never lose it.
Amanda is back tonight. I'm picking her up at Alicante Airport at about 11.30pm. Lucy and me have really missed her and we are both looking forward to seeing her...Ahhh.
I got up nice and early and was outside the Bank at 8.30 when they opened. I explained the situation and they asked me for the fax receipt which I didn't have. After a lot of huffing and puffing by the cashier she went and got out my paper file. Low and behold there was the receipt that they neglected to give to me the last time. It was duly resent and this time I made sure I had both receipts...Memo to self...Make sure you ...
... the day! Here we go again..Manana, Manana, Manana!
No electric=no cooking so I went down to the Lo Dolses Centro Comercial to find a pub that cooks as I don't want to be in a Restaurant on my own. Found a Scottish bar that does food and thought I might be able to watch the Celtic and Hamburg game. Had a good night ended up watching the game with 2 Scottish Lads, Tony the owner and Matty from Glasgow as well as a couple from Hamburg. Good craic and a friendly bar.
We have been having a really lazy time for the past 10 days or so except for the cleaning and unpacking of course. Apart from a couple of bike rides into San Miguel one of the neighboring towns we haven't been far.
The weather has remained ...
... reply...Well this is Spain and everything happens Manana so what did we expect?
Another cold shower and ready to go out with the fading light...Amanda had to go to the hairdresser this afternoon as she could no longer stand not being able to do her hair!
We're going to treat ourselves to one of our favorite Restaurants "The Square" that should cheer us up...Well that's our excuse anyway.
Walking home, bathed in the after ...
Went down to the Bank to sort out the problem with the non-payment of electric Direct Debit.
The Bank faxed the payment through so we might get re-connected soon...Fingers Crossed.
Ah well...at least the weather is hot and sunny...We can sit in the sun while we wait for the electric.
Our friends, Kath and Dave who live at Torrevieja came over this ...
... great and should be there we estimate, between 4 and 5 this afternoon...The weather is very hot for the time of year and we can't wait for the luxury of a nice warm shower...(insert dream sequence)
Reached Villa Martin...a welcome site after all that driving...Switch on the water and electric...OH NO! the electric has been cut off...Call Iberolada to be told the last 2 payments have not been received and to talk to the Bank...How long will it ...
... guy in charge was really in love with himself and sang some sort of Opretta for the crowd. I decided to sing another song at the end of the night, and he had the words faster than the music. I told him that he was off and then he made it worse, so I said, "Listen, don't try to sabotage my song, okay?" I figured that I could get away with it since I wouldn't be there again. We toured and travelled around and decided that Alicante/Torrevieja was not the place for us. It ...
