Checkout was at 10am so 15mins of exercise (double circuit) and a quick dash to pickup laundry and we were out for the day, leaving our main bags at reception. We had to wait until 9:30pm to get the overnight sleeper bus to the ancient temple town that I now know is called Hampi (not Humpey). They were genuinely really nice and had stuck together after finishing each other whilst all travelling solo. We were then a group of 7 that headed into the 24/7 beach bar to meet another English girl and a few Israeli travellers. It seemed like everyone was quite cool, even ...

... for a cabin to ourselves, though that seems unlikely. We can't wait for what Kerala has to offer - and even another mammoth train journey (15 hours) doesn't colour the excitement of what is in store.

Patnem has been good to us - tranquil, quiet, peaceful, an effective place to re-charge the batteries. We are now ready for the second half of our Indian trip...

We wish everybody well - and thinking of you.
