... and clouds, quite gorgeous. And then flying over the clouds we got to see the sun set, quite stunning. We got in and hopped on a bus to take us to the city center of Brussels where our hostel was, and took a short walk there. There we met an Australian friend and we all got ready and headed out on the town. It was a late night and we need to get up early tomorrow, so it's off to ...

The centre of Brussels was a mass of restaurants, all with waiters trying to entice you in. After resisting quite a few (mostly because I find that all a bit unpleasant) we took a punt on a restaurant with one of the slightly less insistent chaps out front. Eventually, after much deliberation, I went for the Carbonnade Flamanade ...

We hired a car for two days. Sarah and co took it to Bruge for the first day, so we took the opportunity to check out Brussels. Firstly, we were allocated dinner duty so we had to make sure that it was possible, so we went past the supermarket before doubling back to the square to catch the HOHO bus. The map was unreadable! It was apparent, but not immediately, this is the worst HOHO bus service ever. It is not user friendly ...
