Caught the eurostar from Ashford to Lille and then picked up the rental car and drove up to John and Hilde's place with their delightful daughters Olivia and Eloise. Hilde had some fantastic cheeses and ham and bread ready for us for dinner. Great time catching up

... is quite large. The capital of the EU, the financial epicenter of Belgium and what seems to be a popular destination for refugees. The neighborhoods heading into the city were very diverse. With the help of bus stop maps, we were able to navigate our way to one of two hostels we'd looked into that morning. The 2Go4 Hostel is a 10 minute walk the main tourist center, but was lively and well-priced.
