... and clouds, quite gorgeous. And then flying over the clouds we got to see the sun set, quite stunning. We got in and hopped on a bus to take us to the city center of Brussels where our hostel was, and took a short walk there. There we met an Australian friend and we all got ready and headed out on the town. It was a late night and we need to get up early tomorrow, so it's off to ...

It was served with frites (obviously, this is Brussels!), braised endives, carrots and green beans. A great culinary start to our trip! Kim had a Chicken Waterzooi, which was a bit like a French Blanquette, a chicken and vegetable casserole, in a cream sauce but without much colour on ...

We hired a car for two days. Sarah and co took it to Bruge for the first day, so we took the opportunity to check out Brussels. Firstly, we were allocated dinner duty so we had to make sure that it was possible, so we went past the supermarket before doubling back to the square to catch the HOHO bus. The map was unreadable! It was apparent, but not immediately, this is the worst HOHO bus service ever. It is not user friendly ...

... airline and quickly jumped on the shuttle for an hour to get into the city. By the time we arrived it was dark and we had zero internet which always makes it interesting. We attempted to get in a taxi for the short trip to where we were staying however the driver couldn't understand the address as it was in Flemish and they only spoke French. Drama. So we decided to walk (it was only 2kms but in the dark basically guessing when it's freezing is ...
