    Getting to Belize is fairly easy from the west coast of the U.S. We are only two time zones away. (With two of my kids in Australia it is a challenge with an 18 hour difference and a boat load of money needed to get there). I haven't gone there myself for that very reason. There seems to be three main departing cities to Belize in the U.S., at least on United Airlines which has a lot of flights out of Medford, Oregon.  These three cities ...

    ... to find that we are in the Rogue Valley. We will probably be set upon by vagabonds and footpads when we leave the hotel. The hotel is charming and we have a gorgeous view from our room on to the river.

    I am surprised that Barbara didn't mention the calamity that befell me earlier in the trip. I bought a lovely and expensive picture in the big city but forgot to bring it with me when we got on the bus. That's right: I left my art in San Francisco....

    ... in two (2) days – really not bad considering that we had to load 150+ boxes and some heavy antique furniture. Anyway, we’re here at the Peppermill Casino and Spa in Reno.

    ... a soldier at attention. They seemed to touch the sky as I stood like an insignificant ant below them. The air was silent...and intoxicatingly pure. I was high on nature. And so it went, we'd drive for a while, then do a brake stand when another, even bigger one came into veiw. I found it strangly ironic that the fence along the road was not made of wood at all, it was a stamped concete pretending to be wood boards.
