Well, it never seems like too much luggage, or maybe it does. But after you have all the stuff packed; small bag, big bag, laptop bag, carryon bag, food bag, two big coats, an extra, extra big coat for a friend from Syria, then, THEN it seems like WAY too mucch luggage. Oy! We could travel with smaller bags, but that would mean we would bring fewer gifts, and have less ...
Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States austinairwavesIf you are EVER in the south central Michigan area, definitely, DEFINITELY, visit the Travelers Club and Tuba Museum in Okemos! This great restuarant serves a different ethnic/national food theme each month, in addition to a full line of 'regular' food and beers. HOW'S THIS for a delicious Swedish dinner? We had split pea soup, smoked white fish, pickled herring, rye bread with herb butter, haroset (applesauce, cinnamin and ...
Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States austinairwavesPhew... Going through US Customs was a bit trying... No searching but a lot of questions meant - I supposed - to catch us with something bad... Who knows. We did not loose any meal. We're in the middle of a fairground, with a weak WiFi but OK. The only analog TV channels are from Detroit but the Detroit area offers 22 digital channels, many
Longer day than expected but we grinded the flying condo to a halt. No problem other than a sticking lock on the propane door.
After saying our goodbyes to everyone at Cedarlane RV Park this morning, we're on the road to Michigan, in the home! Gray skies and cool winds can't dampen our spirits - we are SO looking forward to this next week's travels - when we leave Michigan, we'll head south on I-75 towards Florida, with a two ...

... things happened on your trip.
Me: Of course, you remember the homesick entries from Asia, so that is not true. It is funny how I tend to only remember the good parts of the trip and forget that I was lonely a lot and did have a few scary experiences, more than a few very awkward experiences, and one particular experience I regret. But the good parts and overall benefits far, far outweigh the bad.
Fan: Do you still keep in touch with people you met along the way?

Flight arrived in DTW on time. I had lunch and cigarettes at the FOX Sports Bar. Spent the next two hours at the lounge before going to the gate. Unfortunately, our flight was running late. We left 45 minutes behind schedule.
Well, I almost saved 10 hours of layover, but the flights from Tokyo to Detroit were full. I was willing to pay the $100 fee to change my ticket. I supposed it wasn't so bad. I was kind of in a stupor the last 24 hours trying to read, watch the on board movies and sleep. Not too sucessfull sleeping as I rubbernecked a lot. I have a very stiff neck today. As planned Jess picked me up at Detroit Metro Airport. She was there waiting for me with a smile and a hug. Sure was nice ...
Waterford, Michigan, United States gymwhiteThis is what Detroit looks like. Decommissioned traffic lights lean and hang at tipsy angles from the lines above the quiet intersections. this is Motor City, but many of the cars look dishevelled, their fenders hanging loose or missing, rust patterns blooming over the wheel covers. entire residential blocks have been reduced to green green grass, with one lonely, left-behind house remaining. idle people recline on the porches. some houses have been blackened ...
Ann Arbor/Detroit, Michigan, United States philiad... countryside past Elmo, turned into a small driveway illuminated by candlelight, and presented us with our lodgings for the next three days in the Pittolo Bread & Breakfast operation in the little house before us. After I pointed out to our host, Fabio, that Mark and I would not require the one king-size bed in our appointed room - "He's my guitar player, not my lover," I explained - we got the two beds we needed and crashed into sleep.
