      Great Value

We needed a place to stay near the airport and the Mall of America. This place was convenient to both, and offered a free shuttle from the airport for my son. The lobby was very nice, and the desk clerks helpful. Rooms were comfortable, although one of our rooms had a burned out light bulb in the bathroom. Management was unable to change it, so they put a lamp in the bathroom, which seemed rather strange. Breakfast (included) was decent, and included hot and cold foods.

      The Gang's All Here!

We had hoped to leave around 7:00, and hit the road at 7:45 a.m. ET (not bad for us!). We drove 3 cars (yes, 3!) over to Merrillville to meet both sets of grandparents at Cracker Barrel for breakfast, and to drop off our dog, Jolie, who will be spending the next couple of weeks with Grandpa & Grandma H. From there we said our good-byes, and …

      Happy Birthday, Leah!

This year's trip to Minnesota begins on Leah's 17th birthday. Since I figured out we have been coming to Cass Lake since 2005, that means we've been doing this for 10 years, and we started this tradition when Leah was only seven! (Chloe was five, Seth was 11, and Jared was 13.)

Since we downsized vehicles over the past year, and have people coming and going and different times, we are again taking two vehicles. We (Tom, Linda, Leah & Chloe) will be in the CRV, and Seth ...

... closing in on the end of our trip and it seems to me that four years is an awfully long time. As we were driving between Mankato and St. Peter this morning, I shared my dream for a Model A trip with Jean...maybe in two years...a shorter trip in distance and time.
Jean has always wanted to see Alaska....I have a college buddy I have not seen in over 30 years who lives there...it's about 3200 miles from our home ...

The crazy idea that became reality

... You could say that this led me to pursue meeting and making more friends from other countries. These 4 girls changed my life, truly they have because it has made me want to travel and understand the world especially my friend from South Korea, Grace, who I met out of the blue when one of my friends asked me to sit with her at lunch and have been friends ever since.

This all ties in together, trust me. This past year, I went to a christian group's ...
