Best Western - Woodsview Inn Milwaukee

This morning, we ate breakfast at The Northland Inn to try to get on the road quicker. We drove through Wisconsin for about 4 hours and were about to get to Madison when we decided to make a detour and head to Milwaukee to see the Harley Davidson Museum. We met at Les' house in Glendale to finish packing. We had a great dinner with some Chilean wine. Wow, tomorrow we will be leaving. I hope that I have a toothbrush. I needed practice posting a photo to this blog. We leave Milwaukee at 12:50 and have a short layover in Atlanta tomorrow. Pam

... sat one row behind where we should have been and it was fine. We got the old person bus because they did not want a movie on the way to Chicago. That is fine we will watch one on the way home like last year. We arrived in Chicago at 9:30 and we were dropped off on Rush Street behind the Chicago Place shopping center.

We left early so that we would have enough time to deal with traffic on the way to Chicago. We got held up right by 84th street on 894. We exited the freeway and took 76th street south to the Racine boarder. This was much better. The rest of the way there was not too much traffic. We stopped at the oasis for a Aunt Annies Pretzel before the show.

Exciting times! One more day before the big trip and we are doing out last minute preparations before we go. There are things to be packed though and that will get done tonight and then a little bit more tomorrow. We have an evening flight so we should be pretty well rested and ready to scout about Copenhagen as soon as we get checked into the hotel.

This will be a quick post simply because I am looking back on the situation. I was such a mix of emotions before I left for peace corps. It took about a year for my application to be submitted and approved and for everything to be okayed for service. I was working at a job that I didn't really care for but I really liked the people I worked with. So I was ready to go. Often times I would get frustrated because I felt as if I was wasting a year. ... it's minus 20 degrees, especially if you're going skiing next week. That afternoon I was invited round for Christmas dinner at the Paulys house. For those of you who don't know the Paulys, just imagine the Flanders' from the Simpsons mixed with the Brady Bunch. A more perfect family I have yet to see. Another excellent dinner followed by unwrapping presents and family games made this a truly special Christmas day.

Flew from Syracuse New York to Milwaukee, Wisconsin with Dougal. Stayed with a friend Andy who lived in downtown Milwaukee. We went to the Miller brewery for a tour and then to a huge baseball park for dinner. Later on we went to a german pub and had some fun. Left early the next morning on a bus to Minneapolis, Minnesota.

... dinner. Ellen had chosen a pub place that was down along the Milwaukee River. The weather was just perfect so we sat outside to eat while we watched the rowing crews practicing on the river. I went upstairs to the bridge that crosses over the river and took a photo of the river... ...and then zoomed in on the deck of the pub to take a picture of our group sitting there ...
