... the best looking on the block), and cooked a mean taco meal with our new tortilla press. I gained back most of the weight lost on the trip. It was a good intro back to America. Our last night we went to the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Or as one article I agree with put it, "The Megan Fox Show". And there I was, naked, drunk, and floating under the stars . With each gap between waves I thought I was finally at peace with the ocean. Then another wave would come and smack me across the face. It got to the point where I got up, yelled and started letting the waves hit me dead on. If I couldn't be at peace with the water, I was going to prove that I was tougher then it. ... an interesting place with historic rooms, regular rooms, cottages, and cabins. We stayed in Blanco House #2, a cottage which was very nice. We went for a walk on the Cibolo Trail right outside our door, and ended up at a park with many ducks. Walked back through town, and then went to eat dinner. We ate at Sarika's Thai restaurant, which was excellent. Back at the hotel we read in/by the hot tub for a while, then called it a night.

... to say, it played a key role during the latter part of WWII in the Pacific. Eventually, this ship was decommissioned in 1991 and is now here in Corpus Christi as a National Monument.

This western side of the Gulf is a much busier place than we earlier thought. It has tourism of course, but what we noticed the most is the huge amount of OIL production throughout the area. There are so many oil rigs out in the ocean; I counted 14 from our walk on the beach. ...

... midmorning on Sunday so we had the town virtually to ourselves and the post office was right on the edge of old town. It was the trip to the post office that led us to discover this beautiful little town with its no so beautiful bloody background.
