Ahhh…the French Riviera! As the home of one of the most renowned film festivals in the world, it conjures images of all things magical, elegant, and glamorous. It does indeed deserve the reputation. We arrived by train from Carcassonne, and the last few miles of the trip were along the coastline, providing a spectacular introduction to the crystal-blue waters and sandy beaches of Cannes. Our apartment was superbly located among the bustling ...

Early in the morning we left Lloret de Mar and went for Cannes. They let our boys come back so we head a pleasant trip. When we arrived at Cannes we took a walk along the beach seeing the Serbian street and the Movie palace. We had some free time we used to enjoy the sea and the views. ... guy. He needed breakfast. Then, just as quickly, the wind died down, the rain stopped, and the sun broke through the clouds. We make a dash for, where else, the Boulanger/patisserie and the market. Just as we were checking out, the sky opened up and once again we had what my Dad would have called a "frog strangler." We some how managed to get back to the apartment, whereupon I started vacuuming, dusting, ...

Our first port of call was Monte Carlo with arrival at 11:00 AM. We were to have 7.5 hrs to explore this very chic and exclusive port.
The places exudes and flaunts its wealth. It is evident in every aspect of the place from the cars that are valet parked in front of the Grand Casino, to the high fashion shops, none of which was on our priority list to visit.
We hopped aboard the wee train and rode up to the Grand Casino, ...
