    ... first day of driving took us from Ashland, Oregon, to Placerville, California; a distance of about 350 miles.     Our drive on Saturday February 28th took us through Sacramento into the Sacramento Valley. It's pretty similar to the San Joaquin Valley we drove through on Friday. It's much greener so I presume they get more rain here!

    ... on the other side. Once we got to the top, it was more meadow. In the distance, we saw a man who waved. I waved back and started to walk in his direction. We met him and told him we had never been there. He asked if we wanted any information on the meadow. So we said yes. There was also another man there, both in their 60s/70s.
