... regular at the pub. We also drove past local vineyards and fields with onion seed growing. It was nice to get out of the town and see some of the countryside. It was also nice to partake in a recreational activity that did not include killing things. I don't know what it is about Australians and their need to kill animals, but it seems to be a big part of what they do out here. My fishing trip has thankfully been put on hold for now ...
Swan Hill, Victoria, Australia suzyhart7... one woman who spent the whole four hours on her mobile arguing with someone nicknamed 'pork chop' over a television which had been delivered to the wrong house.
My train got into Swan Hill at 11 p.m. and Fay, another girl who works in the pub, was there to pick me up.
Fay is from England and also lives in the house I am staying in, as does an Irish and French girl.
The house, which is owned by the owners of the pub, has plenty of rustic charm shall we say ...
Swan Hill, Victoria, Australia suzyhart7... a break in Mildura, then followed the river back into Victoria to run down the Murray Valley highway to Swan Hill for the night. First big day on the road, about 650km so far.

Had a 50's style meal at the local RSL and hit the bed early. Bike parked safe under motel canopy for the night.
Swan Hill, Victoria, Australia jhump28... a very small underground museum which was once a transmitting station. It is now a very desolate, isolated place. It is very confronting to see a Yacht Club building, Sea Scouts building, picnic areas etc all set up on the banks of a very dry lake. We packed up on the 15th April during a Dust Storm, yuk - but I think this may have also hit Sydney at some point. Heading off to Eucha for 4 nights. Hope everyone had a happy and safe Easter.
Swan Hill, Victoria, Australia madnomadsWe were told of the "Steve Irwin" look-alike, so we decided to head inland for a couple of days to spend some time with the Daltons. Nisele,Wynita and childrin, live on a farm in Victoria. We fished for Murrey Cod in the Great Murrey River, hunted roos ("professionally") played on the sandbar in the river, caught "yabbies , and had an awesome time with our new friends.
Swan Hill, Victoria, Australia tstewyDid a long run across the Hay Plains today, and as usual it was blowing a gale. The Tooleybuc club was where all the SA punters used to come to play the pokies before they were introduced into the pubs of SA to subsequently make all the publicans rich with absolutely no benefit to the public. At ...
Tooleybuc, New South Wales, Australia jimandelleWe were away from Swan Hill by 9am this morning and after a few stops along the way arrived in Mildura by 2pm. Our fuel economy was shocking on Wednesday so we aimed to stick to 90km/h along the way and as it was flat kept the cruise control on to keep the speed steady. The caravan park isn't as nice as the previous one ...
Swan Hill, Australia trenfield5Today dawned nice and sunny, so we took the opportunity of nice weather and went to the Pioneer Settlement. This is a very professionally presented reconstruction of an early settlement. There is the Gem a paddlesteamer - landlocked now, but still floating on water and on Stage 6 of a 13 stage refurbishment project. As you walk through the settlement you pass all the old buildings you would expect to find in an old town ...
Swan Hill, Australia newtripperMonday, May 14, 2007 For those who have lost track, let's recap here, shall we? So far, I've lost one job, found another, discovered that it was just trial, blew a whole stack of cash thinking I had an income only to wake up finding myself broke, unemployed, panicked and generally miserable. Got it? Good. I don't want to crank the tragedy-o-meter any higher, however it's a safe bet to classify my headspace over last week as "severely dejected." I moped around, thinking ...
