... and numbingly beautiful. I couldn't resist, and blasted Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man. Totally worth it.

Passing from Illinois into Wisconsin delivered even more breathtaking panoramas (and almost enough tolls to give me a headache). I attempted to take a couple pictures at rest stops. Its a straight shot down the I29 to KC, and hopefully smooth sailing. Its looking like a hot one, so good job i put sunscreen on the old nose and face this morning.

Later, after about an hour on the road, we pulled off the highway at a WalMart (a signature move in our vacations) for a few things and found ourselves on the edge of a big, loud, prairie lightning storm. We made for the car and outran the weather by mere minutes. Next stop, Mitchell, SD.
