Clermont

Hi,

Clermont - home to the Skinner family (our most dedicated blog followers), a big mine, a scenic dam and a quaint township. Our visit to Clermont has been organised and eagerly anticipated since New Year's Day 2009. For those of you who have been following our travels from the start of our journey you may remember we spent a week at the beginning of the year camping in the Kosciusko National Park when we met our new friends Deb & Gary.

This blog is not coming to you from ...

Home at last!

... satisfied at what we have accomplished as a family.

We were going to stay in Agnes Water, but duty called and reality kicked in, for Dave had job interviews at Hervey Bay and Maryborough Bunnings stores. The other reason was to obviously look for a place to settle down and to place the kids into school ready for next year. We are looking for 2-3 acres for the kids to run around on, close to Maryborough or Hervey Bay. We have always liked Hervey Bay region ...

Brisbane Again

... spent ten years of her life in Brisbane, and we went for a better quality meal that what I have been used to for the past few months on a backpacker's budget. I met them on the second day to go to Lone Pine zoo, which housed many native animals, such as koalas, which I got to hold for a minute, kangaroos, which ...

Bitten to Death in Brisbane

... some dirty B has obviously proffed with a new phone.

Boys enjoyed the beer tasting and then had to find their own way back from the brewery (by bus). It took them a while but they made it in the end (after asking the same bus driver twice where to get their bus). Probably thought country bumpkins!

Jimmy's son and his family came over in the evening for a meal and luckily the young boys didn't mind Edna stealing a kiss ...

Easter rain in Brisbane

... my eyes. That night we had roast beef for tea, and cauliflower cheese which I love. I wasn't able to finish it all but I gave it a good go (Nick helped a bit). We went to Brisbane City Centre on our last day in Brisbane. We looked around a few chops and ended up buying a computer! We had be discussing whether or not to get a little Netbook and decided we wold get one and share the cost. The next morning we got the train in to the City to get our Greyhound to Byron Bay.

First Ever Holiday!

So kristy and i got packed up... all ready for Carlas first holiday... albeit two days!
Headed to Brisvagas, had a lovely indian dinner, took a foto under the mock Eiffel tower and hit the town. Brisbane + hot boys is a fallacy. My hopes were high after seeing a hot steward on the flight over, however this diminished once we'd hit the clubs.

Leaving Chandler

... on Friday, 13 March from Chandler. Our destination this time was Gatton showgrounds to rendezvous with a dump point as our black water tank only lasts two weeks, then on to Heiffer Creek, a quiet overnighter on the Ma Ma Creek Road on the way to Clifton. Up early to do a few chores which we should have done before we left, i.e. checking tyre pressures, oil and water. All were absolutely okay. We spent the weekend, Saturday and Sunday ...

... want to travel around a bit more when we are there, you can get an internal flight down to the south where there are some amaaazing beaches. But, since G has no passport at the moment - we cant book anymore flights at the moment. Honestly I could have almost predicted something else would happen to us lol Gs passport was ripped in the worst place possible. You know where the photo is .. the back of that. So of course it ...

Not qute the same...

... And yes, everyone was glad to be rid of Bush. But it was just so different. So casual. For me, Obama taking office marked the end of an era. Almost the entire time that I have actually been conscious of politics has been ruled by GW. I vaguely remember the Clinton days, but mostly I've known one president who I did not respect. Now it's finally time for the second to step up, and since he's supposed to stand for almost everything I believe in, I really hope he does ...
