        ... it is not the right place. The head is actually a Veteran's Memorial and the birthplace is in Denison itself. So after looking at the memorial bricks, off we went in search of the birthplace.

        ... out was it is currently closed because of high water. So hopefully when we are here in Sep the road will be open.

        We drove back into Durant and drove downtown to the historic district. Didn't really see anything I wanted to look at so we came back "home". And here we are.

        That just about takes care of our day. Hope everyone has had a good day. Tomorrow after church, we're going to drive over to Paris, TX and see the sights.

        We finally made it to McKinney and turned north onto 75 where we promptly ran into a traffic back-up. Seems there was a grass fire.
