      ... the rain got heavier. This town is on the bucket list for next time.
      Rained all day and we mostly stayed on back roads instead of the interstate for the first half. Once we realized that the rain was not going to let up we hopped on the interstate and headed south towards Dallas.

      Finally in 2013 a statue of Dixon Durant is placed I in the historic downtown of Durant ! Met some great people in town. After Durant we went to the Choctaw council house in Tuskahoma...more interesting people! Then drove to Poteau..funny ...

      ... Wichita, Kansas. It had numerous feeder routes from southern Texas—gathering into one main trail heading directly north. These all met at Red River Station on the northern border of Texas. From here the trail crossed Indian Territory [Oklahoma] heading northward, and branched toward Dodge City, Abilene, and Wichita – all in Kansas.

      ... I owned and shoved them inside the blinds as best as i could. It was a sloppy pain in the ass, but it worked enough to get me to sleep...for about 3 hours until I was woken by police sirens outside my window. Apparently some underage drunk kid plowed a car into another car at the stoplight. We were unable to leave the parking lot for over an hour. Ive never been so happy to leave a state line as I was then....
      Next time, ill take my chances and sleep at the nearest truck ...

      ... camp and headed north to Oklahoma. However, Oklahoma didn't want us - no camp sites were immediately available. So we went back across the state line into Texas. We stumbled upon a beautiful campsite on the Red River. The view across the river lake was spectacular, and there was absolutely no traffic noise within miles. After the sun set, we ate dinner and enjoyed our campfire.
