Just a few more days to go.

I am getting more and more excited about this trip. The worries I had about the weather, food poisoning, mosquitos, bathrooms, etc and not bothering me anymore. Now I am thinking. 'BRING IT'. I can adapt. I am good at adapting. All I have left to do is pack and finish my school work. Then on Tuesday I catch my plane. Woohoo!!!

Jobless @ the JobFair

... much sleep the night before the jobfair, and I was so tired from smiling and selling my soul in teh cattle market that I got to the ham, then dropped S off at class, slept in her car while she was in class, picked up nephew, got sisters car from the car place, ate some DQ, then went home and slept from 6PM to 8AM. I really did! I slept in my clothes because I had ...

... were sufficient but other than that, we took everything we needed and used it all! We had several people comment on how cool our bags were and we even gave the web site to a couple of folks who asked! Packing light: This is the hardest element of our journey and one that we may never perfect and we are okay with that! We read all the books about packing light and threw them all out the train window! This arbitrary weight limit the airlines have is ...

Still in Seattle

... surprisingly, Chris snores. To be fair, Chris is working, and I'm writing... poetry?!?!?! Are you kidding me?!?!?! Definitely too much time on the West Coast... Must get home to deadlines, 20 hour days, and hustle and bustle! Had dinner with one of the two people I keep in touch with from college, Alex. Got to meet her hubby, Ethan. The last time I saw Alex was probably 15 years ago. We ...

... bit the "minx" as Simon had dubbed her during the competition. "Last year I was a roller-skatin' waitress at the Sonic drive-in" she said, with a shake of her pretty blond head. Rocker Chris Daughtry (sexy look and sexy voice) pleased us immensely (still surprised he didn't make it to the end) and then here's Elliott Yamin, looking more relaxed than ever in jeans and baseball cap. Ah Katherine, so beautiful. Then the big moment arrived. All eyes on ...

what i am learning

We just spent 5 hours with William Catton, author of Overshoot. At a few weeks shy of 80 he is just as sharp as our old friend Barbara Lorie! We had planned on a 3 hour interview but what happens I think is there is a desire on my part to give these people a true hearing of what so many people have missed. He wrote Overshoot 25 years ago and we as a species are in a worse predicament than ever with few signs of slowing our crazy ways. He will contribute a ...

Space in Seattle

... approached our hotel we passed the Seattle Center (site of the 1962 World's Fair), with the Experience Music Project, Space Needle and of course the famous ALWEG Seattle Center Monorail, which passed overhead perfectly on cue. Our cheap Travelodge is a meagre block from the center, meaning we have easy access to the major attractions here and the monorail which takes us into town at 40 miles per hour (64.37 km/h), making it a 90 second trip to food courts, shops and ...

Looking for mystery and adventure

Hi, I'm John.

I'm new here. I've only been in one country outside of North America (Idaho doesn't count, does it?), but that was several years ago. I'd like to travel to France, Spain, Italy, Amersterdam, Germany and, if I'm especially ambitious, Japan (though those long flights kill me). I've also been to Vancouver and Victoria, Canada; Portland, Oregon; Reno; parts of California; and the aforementioned Idaho.
<br ...
