Went and had our last brekkie in New York at a little cafe around the corner from the hotel. Took off for Boston at 2:00pm and arrive just before 3:00. We decided to fly as it was too much hassle getting the train and it was much cheaper. Arrived at our VERY old hotel just before 4 and went for a walk around the neighbourhood. Boston is sometimes called the Athens of America for its culture,
universities, and arts as well as its importance in establishing Democracy in early
America. It also gets called Beantown, which I suspect has to do with Boston
baked beans. It now ranks pretty high on my list of favorite American cities.
So why is it among my favorites? Well, it has a dense,
historic, walkable center and is not too overwhelming in scale. In that respect
... small, so if I try to use it, various pieces of me stick out of the water (usually my knees and my chest; it's so uncomfortable). This one was a really deep tub that was long enough for me to stretch my legs out completely or bend them if I wanted to without putting my knees above the water. It was great in theory...
