But first before we could have dinner we had to have brunch. There is a little brew pub in our hometown of Winthrop whose motto is: "We're all about the beer". On Patti's side of our family the motto is "we're all about the food." The topic of discussion around nearly every meal is what we're having for the next meal. Rick loves this as he gets to eat incredible food all the time due to ...

I eagerly await strolling through Pah-ree (my attempt to write Paris with a french accent), but first the Olympic Trials in San Jose. Until then, this is Carlene Elise signing off.
Greetings! Welcome to my blog documenting our travels during our year off from work. Starting in February 2012, both Brian and I have taken career breaks to have 'real' vacations, eating our way through new cities and revisiting some favorites. It wasn't an easy or safe decision to take a year off but we wanted to seize the opportunity and not let time slip away from us. Most of our pictures will be of food and not as ...
... of Santa Cruz.
Mile 79.9. Traversing the streets of Santa Cruz was almost phantasmagorical: the lights from still open fast food eateries and gas stations refracted through my retina generated a fuzzy kaleidoscope of meaningless but strangely pleasant images. I had an interesting sensation of running one long straight street occasionally curving at right angles without actually changing overall direction. Such non-Euclidean experience lasted for an ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Quality Inn & Suites Sunnyvale/Silicon Valley
We stayed at this hotel for a week in November.
Employees were kind and housekeeping service was fine.
Hot breakfast was served for free and its menu was partly changed everyday.
Location is very convenient -
There were several restaurants and 24-hour stores within 1 mile from the hotel.
Although this hotel was located very close to highway 101, it was quiet enough to sleep at night.
We will choose this hotel for the next trip to San Jose.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean, decent, VERY affordable hotel! My family & I stayed here for a week - 3 rooms for a total of 8 people. Paid $55/night per room. The hotel is a older Best Western but well kept up. Not fancy but not shabby or worn. The breakfast was good - scrambled eggs, make it yourself waffles, breads for toasting, cold cereal, juices, coffees every morning. Plus biscuits & gravy or sausage, or hash. Computer with Internet & VCR movies available free in lobby. FREE washer & dryer! 15 minutes from San Jose airport. Only down side - being close to the highway does means highway noise. Only one of our party is a light sleeper, the rest of us didn't notice the sound. It was too cold for us to try the outside pool, but we could tell it was heated.
I've stayed with this hotel fro the 7th week now. I like the total value I get. I check in on Monday nights and check out Friday mornings. I work a lot in the office and travel alone. If you're like me, then this is not a bad place to stay.
This is extremely a perfect hotel. Great price for the room and breakfast. we really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Will come back again
Great Trip - Loved Best Western
Great Hotel. Close to SJC. Clean rooms with iron, coffemaker, microwave wireless internet, and cable TV! Great rates through Expedia.
Great hotel for the price paid. great room, great breakfast. Very impressed
Will visit again!
We booked one night at this hotel, as it was close to SJC, the price was reasonable, and also because the reviews on trip advisor were positive.
My boyfriend and I always stay at this hotel whenever we're in the Bay Area. At first, I was a little skeptical when I looked at the picture of the front entrance online. However, when we got there, I was surprised to see how well-kept this place was. Obviously, it's not the Marriott, but the room was clean and had the basic amenities. Our room was spacious; the bed was comfortable, and we even had a fridge and microwave. The hotel could definitely use some softer/more thread-count towels. Otherwise, everything exceeded my expectations. I'd recommend this hotel if you're looking for a reasonably priced yet clean place to stay with basic amenities. We also like the fact that the hotel was away from the main freeways which meant that it was hotel, yet convenient if we needed to use the freeways. The hotel even offers a free breakfast but we never woke up early enough for that.
Worth it for the money
I paid $55 for king size bed. The room was too good.Free breakfast was great.I do not know how they can give such a excellant complimentary breakfast.employees were friendly and were really helpful.
Location! Location! Location!
This hotel is awesomely situated! It is at the junction of Mathilda-237-101. Very close to 85, 280, 880, 680. You can get anywhere in 15-20 minutes! Awesome service! Free Breakfast: the cereals were kind of old and the selections were limited. The rooms are small, but come with refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, iron + board & hair dryer. Also has a tiny fitness center and a business center. There is free high speed wireless internet access. All in all .. a great deal for the price!
