Well we crossed into Wyoming...welcome to Cheynne.
The snow is coming down, 18 degrees, already have 2 inches and more coming down. We are stranded argh!
Total by morning 11 inches, I-80 and I-25 are closed. Finally found a room around 2am. We only moved at abou 25-30 mph on the interstate before we got off the road.
We LOVED this driving day. The Eastern half of Utah was beautifully carved with such a variety of mountains. We pulled over at a few overlooks off the highway. It is the "out west" we'd always wanted to see.
When we got into Colorado it only got better. Every turn through the mountains offered a new a glorious view. It never got ...
Day 28 Today we traveled north of Denver and visited an Anhauser Busch brewery. WE were able to see the hitch horses in their 12' X 12' stalls. These animals are really pampered. Then it was on to the brewing process itself. Of course the crown was the complimentary glass of beer at the end. Then we stopped in Greely, CO. There was supposed to be a nifty open-air museum and village and a tour of the Meeker house. Both were ...

Since the towns along the interstate are stand-alone and are not based on the interstate exits, we had to go far into the town to get to a restaurant. Then when we paid, it was odd not seeing Vegas-like prices. A pleasant surprise.
Sterling, Colorado, United States bsuarezAfter a long time talking about our lives, we were able to get all the way to the NE-CO border without stopping for sleep. I had been driving all the way from Minnesota all the way to about Kearney, NE. At that point, Randy tried his hand at driving a manual transmission system. He's done it before, even on my old car, but he's been out of practice. The first few times he stalled. I had to teach him how to restart the car and what he ...
Atwood, Colorado, United States bsuarez... the Northern reaches of Chile. We may well cross over between Chile and Argentina a few times before boarding the NavaMag ferry at Puerto Mont, Chile. This trusty ship should carry us to Patagonia where we would like to meet up with a package of warm clothes and some hiking boots to that we can set off on the tracking paths in more than our tropical gear. If we are not able to obtain more suitable footwear, Patagonia may be the last stop on our trip, but provided we can ...
Denver, Colorado, United States stevecori... the 32 mile from the city of Loveland to the entrance of Estes Park, through the Big Thompson Canyon which is a heavily wooded area of scenic beauty with rugged cliffs and high mountains bordering the Big Thompson River. The road follows the river and winds around walls of granit. On arrival in Estes Park we have no trouble getting accomadation (its a Monday!) and have a short orientation of the town. Its very well landscaped, with numerous little shops.

A contest was staged to determine the real Buffalo Bill. Cody had killed 56 buffalo by lunch on his favourite horse Bringham. In a bid to add additional difficlty and flare to the contest, Cody removed his saddle and bridal for the afternoon hunt, he beat Comstock 69 v 46 buffalo's by evening, thus keeping his title - Buffalo ...
Bridgeport, Kentucky, United States adelineDay 42 We woke up today at our very nice campsite and those who didn't have a chance last evening took showers. Also at our disposal were a mailbox and an Internet outlet to update the web page journal and pictures. We left relatively late, around 9:15, in good moods, and set off on a few hours' drive to Estes Park (the name of a town) right outside of Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. We reached the outskirts of ...
Rocky Mt. NP, Colorado, United States kellenberg... and had lunch. Then a little further northeast I stopped at Prewitt Reservoir. The mosquitos were pretty bad so I stayed pretty much in the van but I thought it had a good potential for a painting the next day. With the mention of mosquitos I want to mention the screens I had made for the van. I cut out nylon netting for each window that opened-the two roll down windows in the front and the pop out windows in ...
