... Creek Pass, were in rain off and on all day.  In Monte Vista, we drove through where it had hailed quite a bit and we too drove in some hail. We stopped at Alamosa for lunch then drove on to Walsenburg where we got on the interstate.  We stopped for gas at Trinidad, Colorado for gas before crossing into New Mexico.   We got off the interstate at highway 64 and found this to be a nice 4 lane road all the way to Clayton, ...

September 16, 2014 (Tuesday)  We  left Bentonville at 8:55 am to miss the traffic which we did.  We arrived in Amarillo, TX at 6:30 pm.  We do not travel very fast since we are pulling our PUP.  (60-65 mph at most) We traveled south from Bentonville to I40 then traveled west to Amarillo. ... stopped raining, but was still wet outside. We packed up and checked out - the visitors center let us pay the bill with our individual credit cards, which made splitting the cost very easy! Looked around the gift shop, then went to the other gift shop in case we missed anything. Spent some time looking at the dam and the weird trees that had grown together, then it was time to go. We hugged and said goodbye...until the next time!
