... haut, on avait une tres belle vue sur toute la ville! Ensuite ca ete la visite de quelque eglises, puis le theatre romain de l'autre cote de la riviere. finalement, on a vue un tres beau pont attacher a un chateau en bordure de la riviere.

... I think the oldest building I've ever been in - it was built in 30 AD (that's a 2 digit year, not a typo)

Castelvechio was also pretty cool and had some great art inside.

Stopped at Osteria Verona in the main square for some predinner drinks and had some awesome house wine before going to La Taverna Di Via Stella for dinner. Really nice place with friendly staff and great food. Had ...

"but soft what light through yonder window breaks"

......... So apparently the title is a quote from Romeo and Juliet...... You learn something new every day!

So we only stopped here for a couple of hours as a rest stop but it was pretty cool.

Verona is a very pretty town that is famous for Juliet Capulet's balcony and the entrance to the balcony is where all the lovey dovey couples write ...

Arriving in Peschiera del Garda station the heat is remarkable, We sit on a bench under a tree waiting for the taxi to arrive. Nothing turns up for 45mins! we speak to the local newsagents and it turns out we have to call for one, turns up 15mins later and we arrive at the family camping resort San Benedetto. The only place to pitch a tent is next to the campsite playing field on ...

Verona, disappointing but great people

... bloke from England. He was planning to study in Verona for at least a year. His only problem was he was having a really hard time finding a place to rent. He had been in the hostel for about 2 weeks now and was getting really sick and tired of it. We chatted for a bit and then he asked if I wanted to go see a Choir preform at one of the many churches in the city. I was totally game for a little culture. That is when we met up with Manny. Another ...

... it interesting to picture the height of their use thousands of years ago. We climbed a hill to overlook the city and it just seems so different. A skyline lacking any sky scrapers with churches being the highest point in the city. John Ruskin would approve of such moral architecture, except he was a fan of the Gothic style. Not the kind of thing you see anywhere in the states. Gothic or moral.

My new apartment!

... out to the courtyard and we can see some of the rooftops of Verona. There are about 20 other people from the program that live here. It seems like the best place to live so far and our Landlord Victor is cool. He helps me with my Italian every time I see him. Actually he says in Italy speak Italian, In American speak American. Cool guy!

... pelted with a morning sprinkle of rain, and it took us a while to park. Acutally, it took us a while to find an English speaking person who could help us figure out the "Verona Park" system. We're still not sure how it works. In fact we played the role of "stupid american tourist" alot today. One guy threw us out of his restaurant for ordering two pizzas to share between the four of us (the pizza ...

Sight seeing in the city thats sinking

Our first stop in Italy was Venice. This city is built on stilts and is surrounded by canals and little ornate stone bridges which link up over 100 little islands. It is very unique and it has a certain grace and timeless beauty, (and of course romance) that enchants all that visit her. We were both pleasantly surprised to see that Venice was much cleaner than we had expected. We had been told that it smelt bad, the water is filthy and there's rats ...
